Over the hills and far away is a winter wonderland, filled with millions of dazzling lights adorning the buildings, gift shops and the whole landscape. Coming over the last hill on the unlit country road, you are suddenly welcomed by a million lights. The lake adds to its beauty with the lights getting reflected through. 72 years of celebration has welcomed visitors and local families for the past three generations.
There is some history to this place. In 1948, William M. Koziar, the creator of Christmas Village, began decorating his home and property with unusual DISPLAYS along with his wife, Grace, and their four children. People appreciated and applauded the beauty of the Koziar home and began to refer to it as the “Christmas House.”
Mr. Koziar added new and unique items and lighted displays to the original layout each year. He began decorating the lake, walkways, trees, fences, and buildings, as well as continually adding to the barn and house. By popular demand visitors were granted access to the premises for a closer look. Thus, the “Christmas House” came to be known as Koziar’s “Christmas Village.”
As new residents of Pennsylvania, we were browsing through to find good place to see and enjoy the Christmas lights. A lot of friends recommended this place called the Koziar’s Christmas village. Looking at the pics on the web we were intrigued. The first time we went to the village it was snowing which made it more magical. The unlit countryside was dark, and we were wondering if we lost our way. As we started descending the hill we were amazed by the view and the lights that dazzled. The lake which reflects the lights made it a picture-perfect place. There are lots of things to explore and the kids are not bored a bit. There is Santa Claus who does listens to all your Christmas wishes. My children still rave about the hot chocolate they had at the old-fashioned bakery which was apt for the chilly winter night. Every person who is fond of trains and tunnels will spend a good amount of time, enjoying the handmade train platform and the many trains which go through the tunnels around the miniature town. The childhood memories can be relived, and we can be a child again. The Santa’s toy shop has unique gifts, toys, and souvenirs, which make the phrase shop till you drop come true. We were so enchanted with the place that we promised ourselves to visit again.
